This week, Monday 27th July – Friday 31st July, is Education Week in NSW schools, and the theme this year is ‘Celebrating Local Heroes.’ Schools have been encouraged to develop their alumni networks and celebrate their ‘local heroes’, including their local ANZAC / military heroes. Many schools, my own included, are opening the school to visitors from the community to highlight what is being achieved by the amazing public school teachers and students in the education system.
Our school is conducting a rolling showcase in the hall, spotlighting some particular talents and groups in our school. There will be a drama performance by some Stage One students, various musical and dance performances by students across Stages One, Two and Three, and parents will be able to rotate through their children’s classes during the two hour time period that the school is open.
What is your school doing for this week? I would like to hear the different approaches to Education Week that schools are taking.
